Home THOUGHT PROVOKING... AnonyMouse Faeez the Frog
Faeez the Frog

Please note, this is a fictitious story, Faeez is not a frog.

One day Mouse's good friend Faeez the frog was hopping about contentedly through the woods of Secunda, with all his froggy friends like Bassa and Osman, doing their froggy business when suddenly Faeez the frog and another frog fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit to see what coul

d be done to help. When they saw how deep the pit was, the rest of the group agreed it was hopeless and told the frogs in the pit that they should start preparing for death.

Unwilling to accept their fate, the 2 frogs began to jump with all of their might. Some of the frogs shouted into the pit that it was hopeless, and that the two frogs wouldn't be in that situation if they had obeyed the froggy rules and not been careless. The others frogs kept shouting they should give up! Yet they continued jumping as hard as they could, and after several hours of desperate effort were quite weary.

Finally, one of the frogs took heed of of the calls. Spent and disheartened, he quietly resolved himself to his fate, lay down and died as the others watch. Faeez the frog continued to jump with every ounce of energy he had, although his body was wracked with pain and completely exhausted.

His friends started again, yelling for him to stop and just die. The weary frog jumped harder and harder....Finally leaping so high that he sprang from the pit. Amazed, the other frogs celebrated this and asked,"Why did you continue jumping when we told you it was impossible?" Reading their lips, the astonished frog explained to them that he was deaf, and that when he saw their gestures and shouting, he thought they were cheering him on. What he had perceived as encouragement inspired him to try harder and to succeed against all odds!

This story is a simple lesson for us young bujias, who often do not realise that encouraging words can lift someone and help them make it through the day. Destructive words can cause deep wounds, they may be the weapons destroying that person desire to continue trying---AND EVEN THEIR LIFE. Your destructive, careless word can diminish someone...So think about it, the next time you say something hurtful about a friend who is slightly overweight, perhaps they had just started gym and you are making them feel like it was useless. Perhaps you mock someone for starting to become pious, and become the means of them actually reverting back to old habits and the examples are endless. In essence, we need to hold our tongues! The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wassalam) said about who is the best from Muslims:"Those who do not cause troubles and injuries through their actions and words to anyone"(Bukhari,Muslim) and also "Each person's every joint must perform a charity every day the Sun comes up: to act justly between two people is a charity; to help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it is a charity: a good word is a charity, every step you take to prayers is a charity and removing harmful things from the road is a charity"(Bukhari, Muslim).

Hadeeth Newsflash

Reported by Jundub bin `Abdullah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Once someone said: `By Allah! Allah will not forgive such and such (a person).' Thereupon Allah, the Exalted and the Glorious, said: `Who is he who takes an oath in My Name that I will not grant pardon to so-and-so? I have granted pardon to so-and-so and rendered your good deeds fruitless.''' [Muslim]
