Home THOUGHT PROVOKING... AnonyMouse The Lonely Ember
The Lonely Ember

One day Mouse, who frequently attended salaah in Jamaat at a local Masjid, stopped going. After a few weeks, the Imaam decided to visit him. It was a cold and chilly evening by the river. The Imaam found Mouse sitting at home alone watching a stupid program about sparkling vampires. He was sitting with his fireplace on next to him due to the cold. The Imaam came in

and made himself comfortable, saying nothing.

After some minutes, the Imaam took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone. Then he sat back in his char, still silent. Mouse watched all this quietly. Eventually the ember started to get cold and eventually was no longer hot/glowing and it was dead as a doornail.

Just before the Imaam was ready to leave, he picked up the dead cold ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around. Mouse then said:"May Allah reward you so much for your visit, especially for the fiery sermon, I will see you for Fajr salaah tomorrow."

Anyway, ask ourselves, are we enjoying the warmth and the company of the pious people/masajid etc. or are we sitting like some emo lighty in the corner indulging in sin. This example mainly pertains to brothers going for Salaah in Jamaat. We should definetly all try, even if we can make it for one salaah. Sisters, there is also something for you guys too! There are weekly Taleem sessions that are all over DBN/JHB, go and light the fire of deen in your heart. Do not worry that it might be dead at this point, but just like the dead coal above, it will be lit in the correct company in shaa Allah.

Hadeeth Newsflash

Reported by Abu Hurairah (RA): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Allah, the Exalted, says: `I will contend on the Day of Resurrection against three (types of) people: One who makes a covenant in My Name and then breaks it; one who sells a free man as a slave and devours his price; and one who hires a workman and having taken full work from him, does not pay him his wages.'''
