Home THOUGHT PROVOKING... AnonyMouse Business is Bad
Business is Bad

Most of us are from Indian descent, and thus have had experience in the shop environment. We have all possibly worked in the christmas rush, or during the holidays. We know the ins and out of running a business and as a chaarou we are constantly on the lookout for the next quick buck. However, ask anyone who runs a business how is business going and their answer is almost a

lways:"Ay things were better last year"-or something to that effect. The reason is not that they are not doing business, they are still trading and sometimes very well, but possibly the turnover is not as great as it was the previous year or years. What a surprising thing, we measure our businesses on growth and improvement in sales/net profit, but do we ever measure our spiritual side in such a manner? Sit back and think....how was I last year? Have I increased my profits(sawaab) in anyway? Think about this carefully. In most of our cases, if we were watching 1 series on a sparkling vampire, we are now watching 2. If we dated 1 girl, we are now dating 3(this is NOT A GOOD THING). If we were at least attending 1 salaah in jamaat, we are now only attending Jumuah. Imagine if our sales were declining so rapidly in our businesses? We would start jumping around like mad monkeys, and worry how we can improve! What am I going to do? We would go speak to our uncles or big businessmen for assistance, to our financial advisers etc. However, when we notice our deen has decreased we just shrug a shoulder and say that we are busy...Our businesses and everything are not worth one millionth of 1 salaah! Why are we not worried? We should definitely seek advice of a pious scholar, or sometimes just use our common sense and rectify our ways.On this auspicious night of Thursday, sit down and ask yourself, balance your sheets, check whether there is improvement or not. Also check if we are lying stagnant. Because if we live two days the same, then we are not progressing and this is also a bad thing!

Hadeeth Newsflash

Reported by Abu Hurairah (RA): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Allah, the Exalted, says: `I will contend on the Day of Resurrection against three (types of) people: One who makes a covenant in My Name and then breaks it; one who sells a free man as a slave and devours his price; and one who hires a workman and having taken full work from him, does not pay him his wages.'''
